We need to make room for our 2020 cria, so lower price! Mardi Gras is a light silver gray girl by ABF Eminance's Gray Knight, who only had 6 offspring in the US before being sold to Australia. Out of those 6, four are gray. This is a very limited bloodline.
Gray Knight was purchased by Baarrooka Alpacas, who continues his story:
“While we weren't looking for a grey male in the US, this boy was just too nice to leave. This male has the most outstanding fine and soft handling fleece, with amazing consistency of micron. Both his first and second fleece were inspected and, except for length, there was no discernible difference between these two fleeces. The fleece analysis confirms this with the first fleece coming in at 21.1, sd of 3.5 and CF of 98.5, while the second was 21.0 sd of 3.7 and CF of 98.4. And that's with taking samples out of the bag of fleece. At 9 years of age, his 2015 fleece analysis was 25.4 sd 4.3 CF 88.3 and CEM 7.7.
S:P 8.9 and Fn 35.3.
Gray Knight has proven himself to be the pre-eminent grey sire in Australia with his progeny winning multiple Best Grey awards in both animals and fleeces and even Best Black fleece awards.
We lost Gray Knight to snake bite in 2017.”
Rare genetics indeed!
Mardi Gras' dam is MHM Blackout Beauty. She only had 5 offspring of which Mardi Gras is the only silver gray.
